Racing
Powerboat racing is an increasingly popular sport among competitors and spectators alike. International race series such as Powerboat P1 and XCAT feature the cream of the world’s boating community, while landmark annual events such as Coniston Speed Week and the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes Classic draw plenty of spectators.
High-profile competitors include male supermodel David Gandy and former F1 driver Bruno Senna, nephew of the late Ayrton Senna.
Powerboat racing is due to become even more prominent in 2016, with the Venture Cup returning as a 1,000nm round Ireland race, which will take in Cork, Galway, Belfast and Dublin.
