From jaw-dropping cruisers at the Sunseeker stand to the latest must-have gadgets and clothing, this year the show is even bigger and there are lots of new features for you to try.
Plus, show organisers are running cheap deals on coaches from the south coast to London. Tickets cost £28 – which includes entry to the show – and will call at a good selection of marinas and town centres including Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke.
Used boat marina
For the first time ever, used boats will be prominently featured on a purpose-built marina. Over 70 used power and sailing boats will be displayed on the marina and dockside, with models to suit all budgets.
The Boardwalk
A popular idea from last year’s show, The Boardwalk (a dry marina) will be expanded to allow you to step on and off a larger array of boats as though you were in a marina, making for a much more satisfying boat show experience.
Watersports action pool
The first thing you’ll see upon entering the new entrance at the east end of the building is a huge 70m x 24m watersports pool. Visitors can either watch the experts demonstrating a range of watersports, including canoeing and kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, wakeboarding, dinghy sailing and windsurfing, or get in the water and have a go themselves. For a more leisurely experience, the new beach bar is positioned right next to the pool.
Knowledge Box
This intimate theatre will house presentations from some of the guest speakers at the show, including powerboat racer Shelley Jory-Leigh, and is also the place to ask questions and get expert tips on a range of subjects. Download the timetable here.
The Outdoors Show
Boat show ticket holders get free admission to The Outdoors Show, Europe’s largest show for outdoor pursuits, from 13 to 16 January 2011. Highlights include the adventure travel zone, rock climbing, outdoor gear and a wilderness camp.
