Britain's answer to the Dutch barge is a reliable, well-finished inland cruiser
Built by Sagar Marine in Brighouse, Yorkshire, the Mini-Luxe line-up runs from 49ft to 60ft, with each boat in the range featuring a narrowish beam (relative to length) of 12ft 6in – perfect for navigating the rivers and canals of Britain and Continental Europe.
But the range isn’t restricted to two or three models within that size bracket. You specify the length of boat you’d like, and Sagar will build to order.
Over the years the company has honed the design and fitout, learning from the experience of owners who have used them to travel Europe-wide.
This 57 offers a large owner’s suite forward, and a twin guest cabin to the rear with its own toilet and shower compartments.
It’s in the saloon, though, that you really feel the value of this boat. It is superbly finished in a traditional English style, more reminiscent of a country cottage than continent-spanning inland cruiser.
