Glastron Reviews
One of the first manufacturers of fibreglass boats, Glastron has been in the business of launching sporty cruisers for more than 60 years. The company was founded in Texas in 1956 by Bob Hammond, Bill Gaston, Bob Shoop, and Guy Woodard.
Rapid expansion and competitive prices meant that by the end of the decade they were producing more than 4,000 hulls per year. Big screen tie-ups helped to raise Glastron’s profile in the 1960s and 1970s, with the yard creating Batman’s Batboat and setting a world record during the filming of the boat chase scene in Live and Let Die.
The company was sold to Genmar Holdings in the 1990s – a move that saw production moved to Little Falls, Minnesota. Today, Glastron is part of the Beneteau Group, the world’s largest boatbuilding conglomerate, and its boats are built in Cadillac, Michigan alongside models from Four Winns and Wellcraft. The current Glastron range stretches from 18-26ft and includes bow riders, deck boats, cruisers and waterski towboats.
