Spirit P40

The daringly innovative meets the reassuringly retro

What they say “A powerboat of extraordinary elegance, beauty and performance. The Spirit P40 has all the hallmarks of originality, style and technical finesse that are now legendary in their sailing yacht range.”

What we say British boatbuilding at its most mouth-watering: a superb blend of the traditional and modern.

Ipswich manufacturer Spirit, best known for their stunning 100ft sailing yacht, have used their tried-and-tested laminar wood/epoxy technology to produce a light hull with a 40-knot top speed.

Spirit say the boat planes in around seven seconds and cruises happily at 29 knots. The hull is fitted with four half-moon venturi chines, which draw a cushion of air under the boat and reduce drag. This also contributes to an impressive fuel consumption of less than 25 litres per hour at 30 knots.

Spirit envisage the P40 as a motor cruiser or a superyacht tender and it can be configured as both.

The cruising option layout comprises an open-plan double-berth, although four berths can be specified, with dining space below or alfresco in the cockpit. You can also specify an enclosed or semi-enclosed wheelhouse.

The galley is equipped with a two-hob cooker, grill and oven, along with twin sinks, fridge and storage for crockery and provisions.

As a superyacht tender, the P40 is capable of carrying up to 1,200 litres of fuel and 1,000 litres of water. It can house up to four crew, with facilities to deal with the laundry for the mothership, as well as extra freezer and stowage space.
