Compared with the usual alternative the ‘zoomy’ looking Speedboat they have two major advantages. Number one is safety: on the face of it, the security of the ‘walkaround’ decks is provided at the expense of interior space.
In reality, the side decks are probably no lower than those of a sleek sportsboat, with the bulwarks on the 2610 rising above this level so no loss of space here.
Secondly, the nature of the chunky styling allows for good headroom in what is effectively a 25ft boat with platforms at each end. And the generous beam and bright white interior add to the feeling of space below. Although the interior isn’t sophisticated or perfectly finished, it won’t show wear and tear the first time it is used.
Of course, you can’t entirely escape paying for having a lot of boat in 25 foot the 2610 is a whisker under £50,000 with its smallest diesel engine. But the price premium of diesel over petrol only hurts at the start: the first time you fill the big tanks your accountant will thank you, and aeons will pass before you repeat the process.
The Proline 2610 is all about stress-free boating, and not worrying about falling overboard so easily, or scratching the shiny table-tops, or where you can store all the paraphernalia on deck, or when you will run out of fuel. Isn’t this what boating should be all about?
