A new national series for 14 to 17-year-olds in the exciting twin-hulled inflatables.
Zapcat Racing has announced it is launching a new youth series.
The RYA-approved series is the first of its kind and will be open to 14 to 17-year-olds.
All competitors will be required to have the RYA’s powerboat level two certificate and will attend classroom and on the water training clinics to ensure maximum safety.
The youth series will also start later in the season than the senior competition, to allow participants more time to train in the high-speed craft.
The teenagers will have their own modified version of the seniors’ Zapcat, with propeller guards and fitted Tohatsu 30hp short shaft engine.
There will be three south coast youth series events over the summer, in conjunction with the National Championship Series.
The first youth event will take place from 20-21 August at Littlehampton, with the second round at Penzance in Cornwall from 4-5 September. The location of the final round is still to be announced.
