The 250,000-ton Oasis of the Seas will be based in Ft Lauderdale
The world’s largest newest and largest cruise ship has been delivered to its owners, Royal Caribbean International, by a shipyard in Finland.
Oasis of the Seas is 361m long with a beam of 66m and will be able to accommodate 6360 passengers and 2100 crew members.
Within the 225,000-ton vessel is a Central Park Neighborhood, the first ever living park at sea, with 12,175 plants, 62 vines, 56 trees and bamboo, while the ship’s AquaTheater pool is 5.4m deep and is the largest pool at sea.
Some 500,000 individual steel parts, 150 miles of piping, and 3,300 miles of electric cable were used to construct the vessel, which took 8,000 people to build.
Oasis of the Seas will be based at Ft Lauderdale, Florida, and will be used primarily for cruising in the Caribbean.
