Naval architects Winch Design have announced a 930-mile London to Monaco bike ride to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation
The Monaco Yacht Show is the kind of event where people pay attention to how you arrive, be that by private jet, helicopter or by sea.
Cycling 930km all the way from London may not be the most glamorous way to make your entrance, but it may be the most impressive.
London-based design studio Winch Design is organising a ten-day event that will see 40 riders take on this mammoth cycling challenge during the run-up to the Monaco Yacht Show.
Proceeds will go to the Blue Marine Foundation and Winch Design hope to raise a grand total of £500,000.
The event has attracted the support of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, who will personally greet the finishers at his palace.
“The first London to Monaco Cycle Ride is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness on the necessity to protect our fragile oceans,” he said.
Anyone looking to get involved or support the event in any way is encouraged to contact Jimmy Carroll via e-mail (l2mbikeride@gmail.com) or visit the Winch Design stand at the London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show (Old Billingsgate, May 4-7).
