Welsh venue to open Honda Formula 4-Stroke season

Efforts of local enthusiasts brings the series back to Pwllheli

Formula 4-Stroke powerboat race series launches its’ 2009 championship series at Pwllheli in North Wales, on May 9-10 thanks to local powerboat enthusiasts who helped bring back the series to the venue after an absence of six years.

It’s all down to the efforts of local rookie team, Chris Smith and Andy Musgrave, who will be competing in their own 150hp outfit,My Daydream.

“I have followed F4SA on TV for some years and watched the race at Pwllheli back in 2003 when it was last held here. I met Chris through a mutual friend and just mentioned it in passing over dinner. He took the idea and here we are five months later!”

Andy Musgrave went on, “It eventually resulted in us purchasing purchase of one of the racing boats. We’re making our debut on home waters so have plenty of time to practise. Both Chris and I are very competitive and definitely “in it to win it”.

“When I met Andy from Rock Powerboats he told me he really wanted to get the event back to the town so I made a few phone calls to see what I could do. I ended up in the Isle of Man last September for the final of the 2008 Championship and made friends with the organisers. It really developed from there.
