Buyers are sought for Aberystwyth Marina, the first 100-plus berth British marina to be offered for sale in five years
Aberystwyth Marina, which lies on the banks of the River Rheidol in the south west of the Welsh town, has been put up for sale with a guide price of £2.5 million, but what would a potential buyer get for their money? The marina offers 150 pontoon berths along with planning permission for a further 35, with each provided with electric hook up points and fresh water connections, and a diesel fuel berth is located on a hammerhead.
The marina basin is dredged to a deepest depth of two metres, while shoreside facilities include a dry standing area with large slipway, refurbished toilets and showers, a small chandler’s and a harbour office. Local
property firm Merlin Developments says it has decided to sell the marina in order to focus on other projects, but wants to pass it on to an operator
who can fully take advantage of the business’s potential. The marina is being sold by Colliers International.
Berthing fees make up the majority of the marina’s income with turnover for the year ended 31 March 2013 being around £320,000.
