Driver Keith Whittle emerges unscathed from accident after smashing Formula 2 speed record
A powerboater swam away unscathed after flipping his Formula 2 hydroplane at more than 130mph during Coniston Records Week.
Keith Whittle was badly shaken by the accident last Friday, which was captured on film by Cumbria Live TV.
Whittle has just smashed the speed record for the Formula 2 class by hitting 132mph and was crossing the finishing line when the boat took off.
The lightweight craft with a 200hp outboard on the back flipped one and a half times before crashing down on the water.
Whittle, from Portsmouth, was checked over by medical staff on the scene but apart from being a bit stiff, was otherwise unhurt.
