Stranded British holidaymakers get a luxury passage home onboard a 122,000 tonne cruise ship
A £500 million cruise ship has given British tourists a chance to return home after all flights into and out of the UK were grounded due to a cloud of volcanic ash in the atmosphere.
Celebrity Eclipse is due to arrive in Southampton between 5pm and 7pm this evening (Friday 23 April). Celebrity Cruises, the owners of the 122,000 tonne ship, gave orders to miss the boat’s official naming ceremony in the UK to undertake the rescue mission.
