Two people were airlifted to hospital after their boat blew up off north Wales on Good Friday. Four people were aboard the Princess 25 at Mochras Lagoon, Shell Island, when it was shattered by a gas explosion shortly before 6pm.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control, but the boat was severely damaged. Paramedics treated the four people who had been aboard the boat, but called an RAF helicopter to fly two of the victims to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
“We don’t really know what happened yet”, said a Coastguard spokesman, “the first call we got was that a gas bottle had blown up”.
