Weird but wonderful, say the BCI
Padstow’s eye-catching RNLI station has won a prestigious award.
The RNLI scooped the British Construction Industry’s top civil engineering award for the new lifeboat station at a recent award ceremony in London.
Designed by PBWC Architects, with engineers Royal Haskoning, the £6 million station houses the area’s new 25-knot Tamar Class all-weather lifeboat.
The contractor, Nuttall John Martin, carried out virtually all of the construction from the sea, using a jack-up barge.
