To mark next month’s 100th anniversary of the
sinking of RMS Titanic, an auction is to be held selling historic maritime memorabilia.
Medals awarded to rescuers of Titanic
survivors, with one engraved ‘Presented to the Captain, Officers and Crew of
R.M.S Carpathia’, are expected to fetch up to £6000
each.
Also included in the auction are original
signed letters from Captain Horatio Nelson, before he lost his arm, requesting
supplies for HMS Agamemnon, the 160ft 94-gun
ship that fought in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
Another interesting article is a 2m (6ft
6″) model of Aline, built by Camper and
Nicholson in 1860. Owned by H.R.H Edward, Prince of Wales from 1882-1895, it
could sell for £30,000.
The auction, run by Charles Miller Ltd,
will be held on 20 April, at 25 Blythe Road, London W14 0PD.
