The mix of power and sailboats at the London Boat Show makes sense but only one party turns up
National Boat Show’s (NBS) decision to place power and sail in the
same hall at the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show makes plenty of sense, creating a centralised hotbed of craft for visitors.
Helped by the spectacular backdrop of the new Princess 32M, there is definitely a new buzz around the South Hall, however, the noticeably small number of sails is an issue, with one sailboat-owning visitor complaining that ExCeL had turned into a “motorboat show”.
NBS is to be congratulated on its efforts with the new-look show, but surely the sailing boat community needs to be better represented if London is to truly flourish?
