You can now sit the multiple choice exam online instead of going to an RYA training centre
British boaters planning on crossing the Channel and journeying into Europe’s inland waterways can now take their CEVNI test online.
CEVNI – Code Européen des Voies de la Navigation Intérieure – is the code governing navigation on Europe’s inland network, and covers rules and signs that skippers are expected to follow.
To legally travel through many European countries, you need to pass the multiple choice test. Once complete, your ICC (International Certificate of Competence) will be endorsed to show that you have sat the exam.
The new online alternative to the traditional paper test is designed to improve the ease of access for those living a long way from their nearest RYA training centre.
When you’re ready to take the test for real, simply contact one of the RYA clubs or centres registered to offer the test and they can guide you through the proces.
There is no standard cost; the individual training centres through which you enrol set their own prices.
