Premier Marinas has announced plans for a grand re-opening of Swanwick Marina after a £5.8m redevelopment programme
Swanwick Marina will be officially re-opened next month (April 6), in a grand ceremony featuring live music and dancing, and a selection of new and used boats.
To celebrate the completion of 18 months of works, the Swanwick Marina Grand Opening will include traditional hornpipe music from Warsash Sea Cadets, silk dancing from Zu, and the crowd-pleasing sounds of Fat Cats Soul Band.
A range of new and used boats will be able to view, courtesy of local brokers Ancasta, Clipper Marine, Sunseeker Southampton, Princess Motor Yacht Sales, and Sea Ventures.
Those looking for a technical tune-up can also speak to Landau UK, who will be exhibiting Garmin, Raymarine and Navico equipment.
Food and drink will be available on the day, including a freshly prepared hog roast from the Boat House Café. Tickets cost £2.50 and all proceeds will go to Premier Marinas’ chosen charity, The Rainbow Centre.
Situated in the upper reaches of the River Hamble, Swanwick Marina is part of the Premier Marinas chain. Its 260 berths can accommodate yachts measuring up to 30 metres (98ft) in length.
The marina has been gradually revamped since October 2013 at a cost of £5.8million, adding 16 new workshops and offices, a dry stack, extra car parking, a high-speed fuel pontoon and a self-storage facility.
