RNLI crewmembers come to the aid of an unexpected lone ranger in Durlston Bay
“Oh deer, I’m stuck” was the probable cry for help as Swanage Lifeboat was called to rescue a deer that had become trapped on rocks under cliffs at Durlston Head in Dorset.
However, as RNLI crewmembers tried to rescue the deer it leapt into the water before finally being recovered by lifeboat crew.
Portland Coastguard requested the lifeboat launch amid concerns that a member of the public might try to rescue the animal.
After the bizarre rescue Swanage Lifeboat Station contacted the RSPCA and, on its advice, the deer was released on the beach in Durlston Bay.
