The MBM fleet make the move to Dives su Mer under sunny skies...
Friday 16th June
Day 7
Position – Dives su Mer
The fleet awoke to sunny skies and warm sunshine, a welcome sight after yesterday’s weather.
Unfortunately Time ‘n’ Again was still suffering from engine trouble, it had now been diagnosed as a starter motor problem. They were unable to start one of their engines. Dennis from Valhalla jumped on board with Neale and it was decided that a new starter was needed. With just one hour before departure it was clear that Time ‘n’ Again would not be joining us on today’s passage. It is hoped that they will be able to catch up with us at Dives tomorrow pending a replacement starter motor being shipped in from Cherbourg.
At 1153hrs the gates at St Vaast opened. Calm Voyager had already pulled off allowing Formanda to break free of the harbour, as yesterday’s plan they will make for Ouistreham and will join a day later. The other slower boats and then rest of the fleet followed Formanda out through the gate.
Matt and Ray went ahead of the fleet aboard Time Flies to arrange the berthing at the other end. The fifty-mile passage to Dives was uneventful with flat seas and bright sunshine.
Our thanks to Christophe Loyer, the Harbour Master at Port Guillaume for for taking time out of his holiday to come down to welcome us to Dives and arrange berthing. Every one is now berthed and the barbecues are underway. Claire has arranged a fleet meal in a restaurant overlooking the marina for tomorrow night.
