Dover Coastguard will begin managing a new Sunk Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) with effect from 1st July.
Dover Coastguard will begin managing a new Sunk Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) with effect from 1st July. The previous service was operated by Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) on behalf of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) but ceased operating two years ago.
It was suspended after only two expressions of interest were received when the MCA put provision of the service out to tender. Establishment of the new VTS comes as more windfarms spring up around the Sunk traffic separation schemes.
Leisure craft transiting the area should monitor VHF Channel 14.
