Prestige auction house Southeby’s has announced a remarkable lot heading to its upcoming Monaco event – a Riva Ferrari 32 speedboat
Southeby’s auction house is no stranger to rare and prestigious items going under the hammer, but this Riva Ferrari speedboat must be one of the more unusual that it has handled.
Designed in 1990 as a collaboration between the Italian carmaker and the boating giants, this Formula 1 styled speedboat isn’t actually as rare as you might think, with 30 hulls built in total.
However, that won’t take the sheen off the Southeby’s auction in Monaco, which is due to take place on May 14.
This particular Riva Ferrari has seen very light use, with just 70 hours on its twin 390hp V-8 BPM Vulcano 400 engines.
Other key features include a cuddy cabin in the bows and an automotive-style helm station.
And while the carbon-fibre spoiler hasn’t exactly caught on as a hot trend in boating design, there’s no denying the appeal of owning a bright red speedboat with a prancing horse on the badge.
The seller has not set a reserve price, but the auctioneers expect this lot to fetch at least €180,000 (roughly £135,000).
