Entry limited to first 10 couples to register
Couples have been practising hard for the Savannah Boat Show’s shag contest.
The contest is one of a series of crowd-pulling events at the sixth Savannah show, held overlooking the Savannah river in Georgia.
The shag contest is open to anyone, but will be limited to the first 10 couples who register online.
The Swingin’ Medallions, also known as The Party Band of the South, will take to the outdoor stage at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Centre on Sunday, 2 March, from 1-4pm, and the shag contest will begin at 2.30pm.
Hosting the contest will be Savannah’s local celebrity, WTOC’s news reader Sonny Dixon.
Judges will include dance professionals from Shag Beach Bop Etc Savannah, who will award prizes for first, second, and third place to the best shaggers.
Savannah Boat Show producer Jacqui McGuinness Bomar says: “This is one of the show’s special events that will be exciting for everyone, regardless of how much they know about boats!”
The Savannah International Boat Show will be held from February 29 to March 2.
