Scottish Powerboat Grand Prix postponed

Following the tragic bus accident involving pupils from Largs Academy in Ayrshire, the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Association has postponed this weekend’s (June 29 & 30) Scottish Powerboat Grand Prix, due to be held in Largs on the west Ayrshire coast. After discussions with the relevant local authority, North Ayrshire Counci and series sponsor Honda, this decision has been made out of respect to the pupils’ families and the local community. John Sharp, media representative for Honda Racing, says “It’s very disappointing – everyone involved was looking forward to it and the weather looked like it was going to be kind. But we’re doing this for the right reasons”. The Scottish Grand Prix was scheduled to be the third event in a series of five races, held in each of all four UK countries, culminating with a fifth and final race at the Honda Cowes Classic powerboat festival in August. The Northern Ireland Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in Bangor on July 14/15. The organisers hope to reschedule this event at a later date and further information will be released when available.
