Peterhead Harbour in north-east Scotland was closed temporarily yesterday after a fishing boat brought a suspected torpedo ashore
At about 8.30am yesterday the emergency services were alerted that a fishing boat had arrived in Peterhead Harbour with a suspected torpedo on board.
Grampian Police placed a safety cordon around the device which was believed to be of a “considerable age”.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team removed the device and performed a controlled detonation offshore.
Peterhead Harbour is now open as normal to the public.
