Royal Plymouth yard under development

Historic site just five minutes from town centre

Plymouth’s Royal William Yard, comprising a historic bay and acclaimed collection of Listed military buildings, is being redeveloped into modern apartments.

Property developers Urban Splash are behind the site and are hoping it will be used by boat manufacturers to unveil their latest models.

Built as a victualling yard for the Royal Navy between 1825 and 1835, it now has a café and an arts space which hosts exhibitions.

Just five minutes from the centre of Plymouth, Royal William Yard remains open to the public, offering the opportunity to walk around the building exteriors (but not the interiors).

Kaitlyn Graham, commercial negotiator at Urban Splash, says: “Royal William Yard is steeped in naval history and the south west still has a strong marine presence. Urban Splash would welcome the opportunity to highlight this by using the Yard to launch some of the industry’s latest creations.”
