Ex-World Champion, Neil Holmes, and Dean Gibbs to try their luck in P1
A third wildcard team has signed up for the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea in Vigo, Spain, on September 12-14, joining the SuperSport class Team Tullio Abbate and Team Konrad Propulsion Systems in the penultimate round of 2008 P1 series. The Going Lean outfit will also compete in the season-closing final, the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea in Portimao two weeks later.
The Going Lean team is run by driver Dean Gibbs, who will take the pilot’s seat alongside experienced world championship-winning powerboat racer-turned powerboating coach Neil Holmes on the throttles. They’ll be running the same Yanmar-powered Sunseeker XS2000 hull in the two events that finished sixth on elapsed time in recent Round Britain Race. She fills the void left by her Sunseeker XS2000 sistership, Sunseeker Challenger, that was withdrawn from the series two months ago.
