Two people were saved by the RNLI from their 21ft boat in Barmouth Harbour
Barmouth inshore lifeboat launched into a Force 8 gale this morning after a 21ft motorboat was swept onto rocks at Borthwen Beach. Two people were aboard the cruiser when it broke adrift from a pontoon in the harbour, and Barmouth Harbour Master raised the alarm.
The RNLI lifeboat found the cruiser near the railway bridge and being lashed by waves. It stood by in atrocious conditions while Coastguards managed to help the couple leave the cruiser and scramble ashore up the railway embankment.
Local ambulance personnel attended the casualties. Further along the coast in Rhyl, RNLI Flood Rescue Teams helped to evacuate 25 residents and six dogs from their homes after they were inundated by floods.
