MBY reports from opening day
RIBEX opened on Friday May 8 at Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight.
It is the show’s 10th anniversary this year and as in previous years it enjoyed sheltered pontoons on Friday, but breezy and bumpy conditions out in the Solent – perfect for the sea-trialling which many exhibitors offer and which makes this show so useful for the buyer.
The aisles were full enough to keep dealers happy on the opening day of the rigid inflatable exhibition and certainly there are many interesting boats to see.
Among the highlights is a menacing Humber 10m Offshore designed to break the Round Ireland Record this summer. It’s almost worth going just to see this boat, but there are many others designed for more easy-going ribbing.
