Heavy rains caused a three-storey restaurant boat in China to capsize
Eleven people have been
rescued from a restaurant boat which capsized after colliding with another
vessel on the Jialing river in China. Heavy rains had swollen the river, and
the boat was torn from its moorings by the strong current.
As the video below shows it was swept into midstream
and under the bows of the other craft, and as it turned over and sank those
aboard were thrown into the river. Water levels on the river in the Chongqing
Municipality of south west China are reported to have risen by 45ft in 24
hours.
Local authorities say that
all those aboard the restaurant boat have been safely brought ashore.
