Communities on the south coast of England have heard the arguments against the loss of red diesel, thanks to a publicity-raising tour by the Motor Boats Monthly team.
Motor Boats Monthly’s Broom 39, Calm Voyager, called in at Cowes Yacht Haven, Gosport Marina and Swanwick Marina on 2 and 3 September to publicise the damage that marine diesel tax rises could cause to waterside communities. As the team delivered leaflets and stickers to local boaters, journalists from Solent TV, Isle of Wight County Press, The Quay FM and BBC Radio Solent gave the issue prominent coverage.
This was the first time that the arguments against red diesel tax rises have been raised for those outside of the boating fraternity. Click here to see the interview with Solent TV, broadcast on 2 September. The interview is in Windows Media format, click here if you need the free player.
