The American manufacturer is hoping to break into the 16ft market with its new Scarab performance boat
Michigan boatbuilder Rec Boat Holdings has pulled the covers off its latest addition to the Scarab jet boat range.
The Scarab 165 is an entry-level five-seater dayboat, with a choice of 150hp and 250hp set-ups powered by a Rotax 4-TEC jet propulsion system.
A low-profile swim platform and ladder, ski-tow and custom-matched trailer are all included as standard, while optional extras range from a custom wakeboard tower to the digital speed control package.
The 250hp model comes in two versions; the 165HO, which features pull-up cleats, a stereo system, cup holders and grab handles, and the top-of-the-range 165HO Impulsive, which comes with cruise control and a custom swim platform mat.
Roch Lambert, group president of Rec Boat Holdings, described the performance of the new boats as “like go-karts on water”.
US prices start at less than $20,000 (£11,800), and Lincolnshire dealer 158 Performance will be importing the new Scarab 165 into the UK.
