Fastonwater Foundation has found premises on Oulton Broad - and now it needs your help
A new charity is raising funds to bring together a collection of some of the most historic raceboats in the UK.
The Fastonwater Foundation was only established in January this year but has already gathered 14 boats, many of them from the now defunct Motor Boat Museum in Basildon.
The location chosen for the new museum is a large boatshed on Oulton Broad, but the charity needs funds to secure the first year’s rent, which is running at £12,000.
The foundation has already raised £1,000 and is appealing to motor boat enthusiasts to contribute as much as they can to keep this collection available to the public.
If enough money is raised, the museum will eventually have a restoration workshop, offer classes and be kitted out with a cafe and gift shop.
