Leisure boat reps talk turkey with MPs
The profile of the leisure boat world is being raised in the corridors of power this fortnight as the Boating Alliance, an umbrella group for the main leisure boating authorities, visits the political party conferences.
Representatives have been at the Labour conference in Manchester and will be at the Conservative conference next week.
The alliance consists of the British Marine Federation, RYA, British Canoe Union and Inland Waterways Association.
They say: “The alliance manned a stand in the main conference hall which attracted a number of high profile political figures.
“Attendance at the conference provides direct content with MPs and ministers up to cabinet level.
“During the week contact was made with government ministers including Health Minister Ben Bradshaw, Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Harriett Harmon.”
