Following Brian Peters' resignation last month
Peter Methven has been re-appointed President of the British Marine Federation by the BMF Council.
He previously held the position for two and a half years and handed over the reigns to Brian Peters, who has resigned following the announcement last month that Peters Opal was taken into administration.
Peter Methven will serve until June 2008, when a new candidate will be selected at the BMF AGM.
He is managing director of Latitude 52 Ltd, a company that provides international trade consultancy services across a broad spectrum of the industry and is a recognised expert in the sportsboat sector. Having been in the industry nearly 40 years he joined as a 17 year old, training as a yacht and boat builder.
Peter Methven said: “I am very grateful to the BMF board for their backing. I immensely enjoyed my two and a half years as President previously and look forward to a successful nine months ahead. The marine industry is in great shape and its an exciting time to be so closely involved with promoting and championing this dynamic sector of the economy”.
Rob Stevens, Chief Executive of the BMF, added: “I am delighted that Peter Methven has been elected as President of the British Marine Federation. He brings a wealth of experience from the marine industry and I look forward to success and stability under his stewardship. The British marine industry will undoubtedly benefit from his knowledge and expertise.”
