Wrecks of four boats in Rhyl’s Foryd Harbour are to be cleared away if nobody comes forward to claim them by the end of this month. Three of the boats, including the sloop Shelldrake, and a blue-hulled boat which has been nicknamed The Lowri, have only appeared in the harbour in the last six months.
Denbighshire County Council says the boats pose a navigation difficulty for other craft using the harbour because they are largely covered at high water. Two further wrecks, the sailing vessel City of Ottawa and hopper barge Alice, are considered historically important and will be allowed to remain despite ongoing work on the first phase of the £1.4 million regeneration of the site.
Anyone with a connection to any of the four vessels to be removed should contact Rhyl Going Forward, Trem Clwyd, Canol y Dre, Ruthin, LL15 1QA, before 30th May and provide documentary proof of ownership.
