Rise in diesel duty to attract customers to economical cruising, company says
Opal Marine is the new UK distributor of US-made Mainship Trawler Yachts.
The company, which was formed from the sales arm of now-defunct Peters Opal, said the decision to partner up with Mainship was due to the rise in diesel duty in November next year.
“Opal Marine believes that with UK duties set to rise, there is a market for more economical cruising vessels such as the Mainship range,” the company said.
“Their appeal is also likely to tempt yachtsmen who no longer wish to sail and who require long range comfort and practicality rather than top speed.”
Opal Marine will be displaying two models – the Mainship 34 and 40 – at January’s Collins Stewart London Boat Show.
