Dealership's agreement with Legend Yachts to be dissolved at the end of May
Opal Marine will become a purely motorboating dealership at the end of May when its distribution agreement with Legend Yachts is terminated.
The move to dissolve the partnership, which Opal claims was “mutually agreed”, was driven by a desire to refocus business on the key motorboat brands of Azimut, Rodman and Mainship, Opal MD Mark Cavendish told MBM last week .
In a further statement received this morning, the company said: “Legend Yachts has enjoyed a popular position in the UK market for 18 years, however it was agreed that the fit amongst the Opal Marine motorboat brands was not ideal for either company.
“Opal Marine and Legend Yachts respectively look forward to their planned growth in the UK market and will both be on full display at the forthcoming Southampton Boat Show.”
There was no confirmation or denial in the brief statement of the persistent office closure rumours, nor was there any mention of whether redundancies would result from the loss of Legend.
