An internet campaign to raise money to buy a new boat for the owner of the one riddled with bullet holes in the aftermath of the Boston bombing has already hit target
A campaign on crowd-sourcing website Crowdtilt called ‘Let’s Fix David Henneberry’s Boat (That Got Ruined in the Boston Bomber’s Standoff)’ has already received over $50,000 in pledges, enough to replace his 22-foot Seahawk cruiser.
According to an update on the campaign page, one “incredible” donation came from Boston Whaler.
David Henneberry discovered the second boston bomb suspect in his boat Slip Away II, which was parked on a trailer in his garden, after he went to check on it following a 24-hour lock down of the city. He alerted authorities and the suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was taken into custody.
Tsarnaev has since been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and Henneberry has been hailed a national hero.
