Manufacturer first company to new RYA ticklogo for range of safety products
Ocean Safety has become the first manufacturer of sea safety products to receive a new RYA tickmark logo for a range of its liferafts.
The tickmark logo has been applicable for boats for a number of years, but now the RYA has extended it to safety equipment.
The logo was issued to the Ocean Safety liferafts once the RYA was “satisfied, following a rigorous testing programme” that they were compliant with ISO 9650 – the international standard for inflatable liferafts.
The liferafts are from the company’s new ISO 9650 Type 1, Group A liferafts, including 4-man, 6-man, 8-man, 10-man and 12-man liferafts in a combination of soft and hard casings.
Ken Kershaw, the RYA’s technical manager, said, “It is essential that safety products on the market today are fit for purpose and not sub standard. Ensuring that they comply with international standards is paramount.
“The RYA tickmark programme has been running for a number of years for boats and has now been extended to safety equipment. It sets out to provide boaters with a visible assurance that any product displaying the tickmark logo does comply with the requisite international standard.”
