New Zealand champions head the 150hp fleet regardless of rough conditions
It was the visiting New Zealand Honda class champions who dominated the 150hp category opening round of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke series on the Mersey in Liverpool over the weekend.
Mike Smith and Matt Hopkins from down under showed the home side their skill in rough conditions by leading the fleet from the start on Saturday in one of the toughest events for several years. They almost repeated the performance yesterday (Sunday) before being pipped at the post by UK point’s leaders Jak Cockman and Andy Phipps driving Drainstore.com.
The final round went to brothers Tom and James Plant aboard Quality Racing, the second win of their offshore career, while the overall result on points aggregate was again taken by Cockman and Phipps with a total score of 55 points over the two day event
