SmartYacht offer co-ownership of yachts from 45ft-150ft
A new fractional ownership franchise have opened in the Med who offer 1/3, 1/6 or 1/9 shares of boats ranging from 45ft-150ft.
SmartYacht have locations around some of the most desirable places in the Med including the Côte d’Azure, Sardinia and Mallorca whilst the boats range from a Princess 50 up to a 150ft Cheoy Lee yacht.
The basic principle is to lay down a purchase price which is relative to the type of boat, the share that you opt for, location and the number of crew, then there is an annual cost which covers mooring, insurance, maintenance and administrative expenses. Customers can opt to have the boat for as little as 6 and as many as 18 weeks every year.
An example situation would be to co-own a Harwal 19 (German designed yacht) which costs around €1,125,000 from new. SmartYacht say that with their scheme, a 1/6 share (9 weeks usage per year) would mean an initial outlay of €187,500 and €37,967 worth of annual cost. A Ferretti 610 costs around €2,300,000 from new but with their scheme, a 1/9 share would mean an initial outlay of €260,000 and €32,604 worth of annual cost.
Along with the boat comes the promise of hassle free usage, a captain on board, the yacht can be personalised for each owner and SmartYacht offer the use of a limo for the duration of a client’s stay. In order to reduce annual costs, co-owners can temporarily release the yacht for charte.
Once purchased a share in your preferred yacht, there is even the option to book the yacht and use pre-boarding shopping service through an online reservation system.
