Britain's largest ever production boat handed over to owner
Three years in the making, Princess Yachts’ latest and
largest model has finally hit the water. At 131ft 9in in long, the 40M has the
world’s largest ever resin-infused hull and is the largest production yacht to
be built in Britain full stop – it’s 6in longer than the Sunseeker 40m.
Weighing in at 180 tonnes, it is powered by V12 MTU engines
giving 22 knots and comes adorned with 5 guest cabins. A compliment of eight
crew have their own quarters.
Named Imperial Princess, she was formally handed over to her new owner at the weekend, before
making her way to Jersey to refuel. The 40M is then to be cruised around the
Mediterranean.
The 40M is built in Princess’s recently acquired South Yard
site, part of the old Naval Shipyard in Devonport. As well as the 40M, the yard
will build the 98 Motor Yacht and the 32M.
Princess is already working on hull number two and three of
the 40M.
