Sportsfisher quickly engulfed in flames off St Pete Beach, but all on board rescued safely
A motor boat fire is most people’s ultimate nightmare when out on the water – but throw in live ammunition and the situation can get a lot worse a lot quicker.
This is what happened in Florida on Tuesday when two people and a dog were rescued from a burning sportsfisher off St Pete Beach.
The pair issued a mayday call when they discovered the fire and attempted to battle it with a fire extinguisher, according to a story on Soundings Online.
But within five minutes, the deck became hot enough to burn feet and all on board – dog included – were transferred safely to a boat from TowBoat US.
Shortly after the owner informed the towboat driver that he had live ammunition on board, which can be heard cracking at various points in the video.
