A giant eyeball that washed up on a Florida beach has confounded experts
If you go down to the beach today… you probably wouldn’t expect to find an eyeball measuring some 10cm (4in) across.
Gino Covacci was on a walk along Pompano Beach, Florida, when he came across this giant blue eye. He told the Orlando Sentinel, “It stood out
from the usual shells, cigarette butts and seaweed. It was very, very fresh. It was still bleeding when I put it in the plastic bag,”
The eye, which could barely fit in the palms of two hands, was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for testing, where it has baffled wildlife officials who, as yet, have been unable to identify it.
It is thought to belong to a giant squid, large fish or even a whale.
