Lifeboat volunteers are remembered in Cullercoats Harbour
A local community held a memorial service to mark the death of six RNLI crew members, 75 years ago this week.
The six men were volunteers at Cullercoats Harbour RNLI station, North Tyneside.
They lost their lives while on a training exercise, when big seas caused the Richard Oliver Silver lifeboat to capsize on 22nd April 1939.
A plaque engraved with their names was unveiled in front of their families, while an RNLI lifeboat held station offshore.
