There are so many exciting new boats at the Southampton Boat Show this year we couldn’t fit them all in the magazine!
So following on from our eight-page feature in the October issue of MBY, here is the best of the rest, starting with the?
Boarncruiser 40ac Classic

What is it
A stately, twin-cabin, twin-heads, 12 knot aft-cabin cruiser built by the undisputed masters of steel boatbuilding, the Dutch.
What they say
The Boarnstream yard is a family business established in Friesland since 1964. The combination of a steel multi-chine hull and a glassfibre superstructure provides a mature and timeless vessel with elegant lines.
What we say
If the finely engineered, traditional looking boats that Linssen build are on your shopping list, you would be mad not to take a close look at their most prominent competitor, Boarnstream. Their twin cabin Boarncruiser 40ac Classic is an obvious rival for the Linssen 41SL, with its twin en-suite cabins separated by an airy saloon, plus a separate dinette and galley forward. These lower areas are left fully open to the saloon above, increasing the feeling of space below.
The 40ac’s sturdy steel hull construction sports an unusual twist – a softer glassfibre superstructure which will reduce weight aloft and should improve handling in rolly-polly conditions. Boats like this are often unfairly pigeonholed as inland waterways cruisers. No doubt this is their forte, but with 12 knots on tap, bullet-proof construction, impressive on-deck safety, plus the peace of mind that twin engines brings, there’s no reason why the 40ac could not manage far more intrepid cruising adventures around the coast, or further offshore. If the 40ac is too big or small, Boarnstream can oblige with boats as short as 35ft or as long as 66ft, plus a lovely sedan version of the 40ac.
