In the April 2017 issue we test the Storm X-65 and Jetten Beach 45 plus there is a round-up of the Düsseldorf Boat Show
In the April 2017 issue of the magazine we are looking at the future of fast, efficient hull design.
Both of our featured tests, the Storm X-65 and Jetten Beach 45, use the Van Oossanen Fast Displacement Hull Form, a hull shape which doesn’t plane but is still capable of 20-knot plus performance. The refinement and efficiency claims are eye-catching, too.
In the Jetten and the Storm we have two very different boats bound by their hull shape and it makes for very interesting reading.
Jack Haines reports back on the 2017 Düsseldorf Boat Show where he gets on board the Fairline Squadron 53, Sirena Yachts 64 and Fountaine Pajot MY44 amongst others.
In the Boat Master section Dave Marsh looks into the Hushcraft Thrust Pilot hybrid pod drive and Nick Burnham delivers a step-by-step guide on how to polish your boat.
Nick has also been on the used boat trail and tasked with finding a trawler yacht without breaking the bank and he takes an in-depth look at the clever Sealine F42/5.
In the cruising section Peter Cumberlidge grabs a glass and heads to the west of Scotland to experience the ultimate whisky-lover’s cruise. From the Isle of Arran all the way up to the Outer Hebrides, he tastes the best that the boating and barrels have to offer.
Also, Mark Weiss explores Naples via Ischia and the Pontine Islands on his Prestige 680 and we have a homage to the “King of the deep-vee hull”, Sonny Levi.
We hope you enjoy the issue and be sure to check out our video section, too.
