Irish boaters have fallen prey to a terrifying crime spree at Butler's Marina on the River Shannon
Irish police are hunting thieves who broke in to over 40 boats at Butler’s Marina at Carrick-on-Shannon last month and vandalised a further 20.
Navigation equipment, televisions, other electrical appliances, alcohol, and medicines were among property that was removed in the sustained attack, which is believed to have taken place over several hours.
According to The Irish Times, the attack took place in the early hours of 18 January and the assailants wore masks.
Paul Garland of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland told the paper, “One of them attempted to take an outboard engine but they obviously found it too heavy and they abandoned it on the jetty.”
Police are anxious to hear from anyone with information and are particularly interested in the whereabouts of a white refrigerated truck thought to have been used in the raid.
